| Description: | El objetivo de este texto es reflexionar cómo los establecimientos portuarios del Pacífico novohispano de cara al Mar del Sur desde el siglo XVI desarrollaron funciones distintas a los del Atlántico, pues pronto se vincularon con las necesidades y posibilidades del virreinato. Esto les dio cierta autonomía respecto a la metrópoli. Para comprenderlo, se pretende analizar de forma panorámica el tipo de navegaciones que se practicaron, que fueron desde las exploratorias del siglo XVI hasta las de cabotaje local y cabotaje medio que se practicaron de forma regular. Esto permitirá preguntarse sobre la relevancia que para la Nueva España tuvieron los entornos marítimos de cara al Pacífico. Abstract:The aim of this text is to analyze how the ports in the coast of the Pacific in New Spain, since the Sixteenth Century, had different development in compare with the Atlantic Coasts. This situation gave them a little autonomy from the Spain authorities. To appreciate that is necessary to see the kind of navigations practiced in New Spain, local and offshore. In this way, we can see the importance of the maritime spaces in the New Spain. |
