Description:	A stabbing injury is a type of trauma that will cross the skin caused by a knife or similar pointed object. The stab wounds can not only be caused by a knife, they can also be originated from a variety of elements, which can involve broken bottles and ice peaks. Autoinfliction or intentional violence is the major cause of stabbing. The treatment is not always the same, it will depend on the anatomical location and severity of the lesion. Stabbings have a higher incidence than gunshot wounds, but they account for less than 10% of all penetrating trauma deaths. Una herida punzante producida por arma blanca es una forma específica de traumatismo penetrante en la piel por un objeto punzocortante. Si bien se sabe que las puñaladas suelen ser causadas por cuchillos, también pueden producirse a partir de una variedad de implementos, como botellas rotas y picos de hielo. La mayoría de los apuñalamientos se producen debido a la violencia intencional o por autoinflección. El tratamiento depende de muchas variables diferentes, como la ubicación anatómica y la gravedad de la lesión. A pesar de que las puñaladas se infligen en una tasa mayor que las de los disparos, representan menos del 10% de todas las muertes por trauma penetrante.
