| Description: | Artificial intelligence (AI) has started to penetrate into different areas and sectors. Nowadays, there are AI applications in our smartphones, streaming platforms and for customer service, which represents a fundamental strategic activity in organizations. This paper aims to analyze the state of the art of AI-based virtual assistants. The findings of this exploratory research identified that, although AI allows the development of different tools, such as a virtual assistant to simulate human conversations, existing architectures are not fully efficient. This situation is due to the fact that current chatbots do not exploit the full potential of AI techniques, as they basically only work on a menu-driven basis. La inteligencia artificial (IA) ha comenzado a adentrarse en diferentes ámbitos y sectores. Actualmente, existen aplicaciones de IA en nuestros teléfonos, las plataformas de streaming y para el servicio al cliente, lo que representa una actividad estratégica fundamental en las organizaciones. En este documento se presenta el estado del arte de los asistentes virtuales basados en IA. Los hallazgos de esta investigación exploratoria identificaron que, aunque, la IA permite desarrollar diferentes herramientas, como el que un asistente virtual simule conversaciones humanas, las arquitecturas existentes no son del todo eficientes. Esta situación se debe a que los chatbots actuales no explotan al máximo el potencial de las técnicas de IA, pues básicamente solo funcionan con base en menús. |
