Description:	The aim of the essay is to address the urban metabolism paradigm from the methodological perspective of complex and multidisciplinary systems, as binding instruments for the study and management of sustainability. The conclusion preliminary is that urban metabolism represents an example of the constructionbinding in the budding of complex and multidisciplinary models for the approach urgent of the energy transition of cities towards the mitigation of global climate change and environmental collapse prevailing in today's society. El objetivo del ensayo reside en abordar el paradigma del metabolismo urbano desde la perspectiva metodológica de los sistemas complejos y multidisciplinares, como instrumentos vinculantes para el estudio y gestión de la sustentabilidad. La conclusión preliminar es que el metabolismo urbano representa un ejemplo de la construcción vinculante en ciernes de los modelos complejos y multidisciplinares para el abordaje urgente de la transición energética de las ciudades hacia la mitigación del cambio climático global y el colapso ambiental prevalecientes en la sociedad actual.
