Description:	This text presents the basic historical conditions to take in consideration to approach the study of the migratory movements from the Michoacan Tarascans in the colonial era, and the most direct causes of migrations, once the Spanish conquest was over. The Tarascan nobility plays an important role in the collaboration with the Spaniards conquests and the colonizations of the hostile lands of the Grand Chichimeca. The examples shown here highlight the forms of reproduction of the cultural and institutional features acquired by indigenous towns in external contextsto their former settlements. En el presente texto se presentan las condiciones históricas básicas que hay que tomar en cuenta para acercarse al estudio de los movimientos migratorios de los tarascos de Michoacán en la época colonial y las causas más directas de las migraciones una vez consumada la conquista española. La nobleza tarasca tiene un papel importante en la colaboración con los españoles en las conquistas y colonizaciones de las tierras hostiles de la Gran Chichimeca. Los ejemplos que aquí se muestran dan cuenta de las formas de reproducción de los rasgos culturales e institucionales que adquirieron los pueblos indígenas en contextos externos a sus antiguos asentamientos.
