Description:	Translating The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien presents a challenge to any translator in any language. Some of the problems the translator faces are similar to other texts, while others are specific to this work. The aim of this paper is to identify some of the specific problems this work poses to translators in order to preserve in another language the world invented by Tolkien. Traducir El Señor de los Anillos de J.R.R. Tolkien constituye todo un desafío para los traductores sin importar a qué lengua lo traduzcan. Algunos de losn problemas a los que se enfrenta el traductor son similares a los que se presentan en otros textos; sin embargo, otros son específicos de esta obra. El objetivo del presente artículo consiste en identificar algunos de los problemas específicos que plantea esta obra para el traductor y lograr así preservar en otra lengua el mundo inventado por Tolkien.
