Description:	It is possible to identify assigned meanings in the writing process within historiographical practice because, in response to the need of apprehending and understanding reality, human beings construct meaning epistemologically through the logic of social systems. The aim of this text is to analyze, as a postmodern theoretical reflection, meaning construction within historiographical practice and to describe why history as a discipline must heed the call of uncertainty, explained by the concepts of contingency and observation. Dentro de la práctica historiográfica se pueden identificar sentidos asignados en el proceso de escritura puesto que, en respuesta a la necesidad de aprehender y comprender la realidad, los seres humanos construimos sentidos epistemológicamente a través de la lógica de los sistemas sociales. El objetivo de este texto, a manera de reflexión teórica posmoderna, estriba en analizar estas producciones de sentido dentro de la historiografía y describir por qué la historia como disciplina debe atender al llamado de la incertidumbre, explicada a partir de los conceptos de contingencia y de observación.
