Title:	From the past to the future: transitional justice and gender, in the international experience Del pasado al porvenir: justicia transicional y género desde la experiencia internacional

Description:	This article aims to provide a critical view of transitional justice from a gender perspective. By reviewing different experiences around the world, an attempt is made to identify common experiences and learnings. There are three conclusions obtained from this exercise: 1) The challenges: The inequity and structural exclusion of women, before, during and after conflicts; and, to overcome the vision of victims of women, to apply a comprehensive perspective of a gender approach. 2) Lessons learned: the relevance of the specificity of each context, highlighting the condition and needs of women; and, the integrality of the four dimensions of transitional justice: truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition. 3) The need to apply the gender approach to the agendas of transition to peace and democracy, as a condition for building a more peaceful and truly inclusive future. Este artículo se propone aportar una mirada crítica de la justicia transicional en clave de género. Desde distintas experiencias alrededor del mundo, se intenta identificar experiencias comunes y aprendizajes.  Son tres las conclusiones obtenidas de este ejercicio: 1) Los desafíos: La inequidad y exclusión estructural de las mujeres, antes, durante y después de los conflictos; y, superar la visión de víctima de las mujeres, para aplicar una perspectiva integral de un enfoque de género. 2) Lecciones aprendidas: la relevancia de la especificidad de cada contexto, destacando la condición y necesidades de las mujeres; y, la integralidad de las cuatro dimensiones de la justicia transicional: verdad, justicia, reparación y garantías de no repetición. 3) La necesidad de aplicar el enfoque de género a las agendas de transición a la paz y la democracia, como condición para construir un porvenir más pacífico y realmente incluyente.
