| Description: | This paper reviews the planning of social policy in Mexico from the end of the twentieth century to Andrés Manuel López Obrador government. The president of México has named his project the Fourth Transformation (4T). Through the work development a historical reconstruction of the left political party’s interest to reach presidential power and the circumstances that made it possible are discussed. In the same way to chart the route of social policy in Mexican neoliberal governments. The main purpose of the review is to clarify if the manifested antagonism of López Obrador and his 4T faces neoliberalism as a leftist government and if his project has chances of reaching the established social policy goals. Este artículo revisa la planeación de la política social en México desde finales del siglo x x hasta el gobierno de Andrés Manuel López Obrador. El presidente de México ha llamado a su proyecto la Cuarta Transformación (4T). En el desarrollo del trabajo se realiza una reconstrucción histórica de los partidos políticos de izquierda en su aspiración por alcanzar el poder presidencial y las circunstancias que lo hicieron posible. También se hace el itinerario de la política social de los gobiernos neoliberales en México. El propósito de la revisión es aclarar si el antagonismo manifiesto de López Obrador y su gobierno de la 4T frente al neoliberalismo lo definen como un gobierno de izquierda y si este proyecto tiene posibilidades de alcanzar las metas señaladas en su plan de desarrollo. |
