Description:	This article shows an exploratory research carried out in tattoo studios in four cities in Ecuador. The purpose has been to know the characteristics of the body art centers, their professionals, the conditions in which their work is framed and the social groups to which the clients or consumers of this service belong. The analysis presents qualitative results, which were collected through semi-structured interviews in twelve (12) tattoo centers distributed proportionally in Quito, Latacunga, Ambato and Riobamba. In the results, criteria were obtained on professional training, valuation and costs of their work, characteristics of their clients and perception of the groups towards the profession.   El presente artículo muestra una investigación de tipo exploratoria, con enfoque cualitativo, realizada en estudios de tatuaje en cuatro ciudades de Ecuador. Su propósito ha sido conocer las características de los centros de arte corporal, sus profesionales, las condiciones en las que se enmarca su trabajo y los colectivos sociales a los que pertenecen los clientes o consumidores de este servicio. El análisis presenta datos cualitativos que fueron recolectados mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas en 12 centros de tatuaje repartidos proporcionalmente en Quito, Latacunga, Ambato y Riobamba. En los resultados se obtuvieron criterios sobre formación profesional, valoración y costos de su trabajo, características de sus clientes y percepción de los colectivos hacia la profesión.
