Description:	The book is an interinstitutional effort through a co-edition between the University of Guadalajara and the Autonomous University of Chiapas, in the context of the editorial project of the National Housing and Sustainable Communities Laboratory, it must be added that it is an editorial work of focus collaborative, and represents a recovery of the visions and works that have been developed around the home nationwide, having collaborations that expose the research results and a series of theoretical reflections in which the multiple and inclusive vision of the concepts of resilience, sustainability in a context of housing as a human right, without forgetting its relationship with the city and its inhabitants. Initially, the chapter entitled “The challenge of sustainability in the face of urban expansion and social housing production” addresses one of the most complex issues in urban management and planning in Mexican cities, which is related to the relationship between the interpretation and application of the concept of sustainability in an environment of urban expansion in Mexican cities, which has generated problems of inequality, segregation, lack of accessibility to services and informality as an alternative to solve habitat problems. El libro es un esfuerzo interinstitucional a través de una co-edición entre la Universidad de Guadalajara y la Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas, en el contexto del proyecto editorial del Laboratorio Nacional de Vivienda y Comunidades Sustentables, hay que agregar que es un trabajo editorial  de enfoque colaborativo, y  representa una recuperación de  las visiones y trabajos que se han ido desarrollando alrededor de la vivienda a nivel nacional, teniendo colaboraciones que exponen los resultados de investigación y una serie de reflexiones teóricas  en las cuales se destaca la visión múltiple e inclusiva de los conceptos de resiliencia, sustentabilidad en un contexto de vivienda como derecho humano, sin olvidar su relación con la ciudad y sus habitantes.  En un principio, el capítulo titulado “el reto de la sustentabilidad ante la expansión urbana y la producción social de vivienda”se aborda uno de los temas mas complejos en la gestión y planeación urbana en las ciudades mexicanas, el cual esta relacionado con la relación entre la interpretación y aplicación del concepto de sustentabilidad en un entorno de expansión urbana en las ciudades mexicanas, que ha generado paralelamente problemas de desigualdad, segregación, falta de accesibilidad a servicios y la informalidad como alternativa para resolver los problemas del hábitat.
