Title:	A note concerning an argument about the concept of enthymeme Una nota sobre un argumento acerca del concepto de entimema

Description:	Abstract: The term “enthymeme” is used in the informal logic literature to refer to an argument with an implicit (missing, suppressed, unstated, omitted) premise. In this paper we analyze an argument that Roy Sorensen presented to support the contention according to which to maintain that enthymemes are invalid arguments with an implicit premise has a paradoxical consequence that should lead us to reject that thesis. We show that Sorensen's argument is an instance of the Pseudo-Scotus paradox, a paradox that does not involve the concept of enthymeme but the more general notion of (in) validity. We conclude that although there may be good reasons to consider that enthymemes are not arguments, Sorensen's objection does not offer compelling reasons to adopt that position. Keywords: enthymemes; implicit premises; argument reconstruction; Pseudo-Scotus paradox; Roy Sorensen Resumen: El término “entimema” se suele usar en la literatura de la lógica informal para referirse a argumentos inválidos que tienen una premisa implícita (faltante, suprimida, no enunciada, omitida).En este trabajo analizamos un argumento que  Roy Sorensen presentó para apoyar  su posición según la cual suponer que los entimemas son argumentos inválidos con una premisa implícita tiene una consecuencia paradójica que debería llevarnos a rechazar esa tesis. Mostramos que el argumento de Sorensen es una instancia de la paradoja del Pseudo-Escoto, paradoja esta última que no involucra al concepto de entimema sino a la noción más general de (in)validez. Concluimos que aunque puede haber buenas razones para considerar que los entimemas no son argumentos, el argumento de Sorensen no ofrece razones convincentes para sostener esa posición.
