Description:	Reception: December 3, 2016     Accepted: December 22, 2016 Although several authors (e.g. Johnson-Laird, 2011; and Fisher, 2004) have recently questioned the usefulness of logic in everyday argumentation, the present text asserts its usefulness in at least three aspects: 1) the refutation of theses and arguments in general, 2) the identification of certain common fallacies and 3) the evaluation of deductive arguments. Specific examples and previous studies are given to strengthen the evidence. Recepción: 3 de diciembre de 2016     Aceptación: 22 de diciembre de 2016 Aunque recientemente varios autores (v.g. Johnson-Laird, 2011; y Fisher, 2004) han puesto en duda la utilidad de la lógica en la argumentación cotidiana, en el presente texto se defiende su utilidad en al menos los siguientes tres aspectos: 1) La refutación de tesis y argumentos en general, 2) la identificación de ciertas falacias comunes y 3) la evaluación de argumentos deductivos. Se alude a ejemplos concretos y estudios previos para fortalecer la evidencia dada.
