Description:	This paper analyzes higher education policies in Mexico from the 1990s to 2016, as well as the expansion process experienced by private higher education institutions in the same period. The study reveals the influence of international organizations in Mexico’s educational policies and the characteristics of private HEIs throughout this period. En este trabajo se analizan las políticas de educación superior en México a partir de la década de los noventa, así como el proceso de expansión que las Instituciones Privadas de Educación Superior (IPES) han experimentado hasta 2016. El estudio revela la influencia de los organismos internacionales en las políticas educativas de México, así como las características que presentan las IPES a lo largo de este periodo.
