| Description: | Antonio Alcalde y Barriga (1701-1792). Obispo de Guadalajara, México entre 1771 y 1792, fue además de fraile dominico, buen político y gestor de recursos. Hombre entre "el Barroco y la Ilustración", pues en sus obras hay un empuje de vanguardia, pero sin olvidar la tradición barroca. Gracias a sus gestiones se realizaron obras como el "Hospital Real de San Miguel de Belén" (hoy viejo Hospital Civil) y la Real y Literaria Universidad de Guadalajara. Su visión de buen urbanista fue evidente en la construcción del barrio y Santuario de Guadalupe. |
