Descripción:	This paper “Mexico as a literary experience: In times of fading light (2011) of Eugen Ruge” written by Olivia C. Díaz Pérez and Jesús Omar Serrano Muñoz analyzes a novel that signifies a watershed moment in the German-speaking literary scene by addressing the history of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in the manner of Thomas Mann and his novel Buddenbrooks. The researchers emphasize how the author describes the decline of East Germany through the fall of a socialist establishment family whose background goes back to the exile of German speakersto Mexico. Through their contribution Díaz Pérez and Serrano Muñoz highlight how the novel returns to a still little known theme concerning the relations between Mexico and the GDR, that is to say, the difficult role that the German-speaking people in exile had to play upon their reincorporation into the political and cultural life of East Germany. They draw special attention to how Mexico’s image in the novel plays a very specific role in serving as literary experience and form part of a literary tradition of foreign travelers in Mexico. El presente texto “México como experiencia literaria: En tiempos de luz menguante (2011) de Eugen Ruge” de Olivia C. Díaz Pérez y Jesús Omar Serrano Muñoz analiza una novela que en el espacio literario de Alemania significó un parteaguas al abordar la historia de la República Democrática Alemana (RDA) a la manera de Thomas Mann y sus Buddenbrooks. Los investigadores destacan cómo el autor describe la decadencia del estado socialista alemán (la RDA) a través de la decadencia de una familia del establishment socialista cuyo importante antecedente se encuentra en el exilio de habla alemana en México. En su contribución Díaz Pérez y Serrano Muñoz destacan cómo la novela retoma un tema desconocido todavía entre la relación entre México y la RDA, a decir, el difícil papel que tuvieron los exiliados de habla alemana en México al incorporarse a la vida política y cultural de la RDA. En especial, hacen hincapié en cómo la imagen de México en la novela cumple con una función muy concreta al fungir más como experiencia literaria y a pasar a formar parte de la tradición literaria de los viajeros extranjeros en México.
