dc.descriptionThis paper addresses the distinctive features of European literature in the context of Nazi and communist totalitarianism and the two world wars in the twentieth century. The author emphasizes the important role that literature has played in witnessing one of the most violent centuries in the history of mankind and this is mainly exemplified through the life and work of Primo Levi (1919-1987) and the Nobel Prize winners for Literature Czes?aw Mi?osz (1911-2004) and Imre Kerstész (1929-2016). Both Levi and Kerstész underline the indissoluble relationship between their literary work and their personal experiences as holocaust survivors and who along with Milosz were also great critics of the socialist dictatorships in Europe.en-US
dc.descriptionEste texto aborda las particularidades de la literatura europea en el contexto del totalitarismo nazi y el comunista, así como de las dos guerras mundiales del siglo xx. La autora acentúa el importante papel que ha tenido la literatura al ser testigo de uno de los siglos más violentos de la historia de la humanidad, lo que ejemplifica principalmente a través de la vida y obra de Primo Levi (1919-1987) y de los premios Nobel de literatura Czes?aw Mi?osz (1911-2004) e Imre Kerstész (1929-2016). De Levi y Kerstész destaca la indisoluble relación de su obra literaria con su experiencia personal como sobrevivientes del holocausto, quienes junto con Milosz también fueron grandes críticos de las dictaduras socialistas en Europa.es-ES
