Description:	The following article has the objective of introducing some notions about football (or soccer) as a total social fact; it alludes to collective memory and history as part of its symbolic universe. In this sense, the understanding of sports opens the possibility of going further than the ludic aspect of the activity in order to link the sports with other social processes like the urban growth, migration and the genesis of institutions with great impact in the community. We use the concepts provided by the German historian Reinhart Koselleck ‘experience space’ and ‘expectative horizon’ to explain how Tijuana's inhabitants made football part of their identity construction. Both notions made possible the analysis of spots in the city connected to time concatenation between past and present, which includes a reflection about collective memory as a complex analytic category to discuss.  El presente artículo tiene por objetivo reflexionar sobre el futbol como hecho social total, el cual alude a la memoria colectiva e historia dentro de su universo simbólico. Esta reflexión permite trascender el aspecto lúdico de la actividad para comprender y constatar cómo el deporte se encuentra ligado a los procesos de crecimiento urbano, la migración y la creación de instituciones con un destacado impacto en la comunidad. Seguimos los conceptos sugeridos por el historiador alemán Reinhart Koselleck de ‘espacio de experiencia’ y ‘horizonte de expectativa’. El primer concepto lo entendemos como el pasado sedimentado en la sociedad que dota de sentido las actividades del presente, y así la experiencia acumulada en los habitantes de Tijuana retoma al deporte como parte de su construcción identitaria. A su vez, el segundo concepto infiere la capacidad de los sujetos históricos por vislumbrar un futuro que se ajuste a sus metas como colectivo. Ambas nociones nos acercan al análisis del deporte en la ciudad que concatena el pasado-presente con el presente-futuro, y cuya reflexión se desprende de la memoria colectiva como categoría analítica por complejizar.
