dc.descriptionDirect investment flows are considered one of the funding sources to capitalize the economy. The evidence shows how foreign investors need stability, political security and maintenance of property rights which guarantee the return of investment to register their capital to an economic process. During the last 40 years Chile has been facing different political stages which eventually affected the political attraction of foreign investment developed in the seventies. Nevertheless, results show that only the transition to a democratic process is the main political fact having effects on the Direct Foreign Investment flows, while the rest of the performance is associated to foreign economical events.en-US
dc.descriptionLos flujos de inversión extranjera directa son considerados una fuente de recursos para poder capitalizar las economías. La evidencia muestra que el inversionista internacional necesita estabilidad, seguridades políticas y resguardo de los derechos de propiedad que garanticen los retornos de la inversión para ingresar sus capitales a una economía. En los últimos 40 años Chile ha atravesado por diversos estados políticos que eventualmente afectaron las políticas de atracción de inversión extranjera elaboradas en la década de los setenta. Sin embargo, los resultados muestran que solamente el proceso de transición a la democracia es el principal hecho político que tiene efectos sobre los flujos de inversión extranjera directa, mientas que el resto del comportamiento ha estado vinculado a sucesos económicos internacionales. Direct Investment Flows, Democratic Strengthening and Political Situation: The Case of ChileDirect investment flows are considered one of the funding sources to capitalize the economy.  The evidence show how foreing investors needs stability, political security and maintenance of property rights which guarantee the return of investment to register their capital to an economic process.  During the last 40 years, Chile has been facing different political stages which eventually, affected the political attraction of foreign investment developed in the 70.
